PROGRESSIVE DISCIPLINE
All of the rules and the progressive discipline steps below are encouraged, enforced, AND posted in the classroom.
When a student breaks a rule below he/she will write the rule (all words written on classroom poster, which are also below) according to the number of times that student has broken that rule(see chart below). If the student does not complete the assigned sentences then they are given the next consequence. All sentences are due the following day unless the teacher writes a different due date in the planner. Students are to write three numbered items in their planner (in pen), below parent signature where it says “notes or detention” according to the date the student committed the violation. Students write the following in their planner: 1) exactly what they did. 2) rule they broke, 3) number of times they need to write the sentence with due date.
First offense: Student writes the title and entire rule they broke 20 times.
Second offense: 40 times
Third offense: 80 times
Forth offense: 200 times
Fifth offense: Detention
Sixth offense: Referral & 200 sentences.

cITIZENSHIP GRADES
Each student’s citizenship grade is based upon their daily classroom behavior which includes: 1) following classroom rules, participation, and appropriate attitude. Each explore teacher tracts student behavior according to the established classroom rules. In the grading scale below, you will notice that there is an overlap between “O” and “S”. The reason for the overlap is some students may be well behaved but they exhibit average classroom participation &/or attitude. These students would earn an “S”. On the other hand, if a student has made two behavior mistakes in class but has an excellent attitude and has high participation, then that student can earn an “O”.
Infraction / Weight:
First offense breaking a rule (20 sentences) = -1
Second offense breaking the (40 sentences) same rule = -1
Third offense breaking the same rule (80 sentences) = -2
Fourth offense breaking the same rule (Loss of Privilege) = -3 and automatic “N”
Fifth offense breaking the same rule (Detention) = -4 and automatic “N”
(If a student doesn’t show up to their scheduled detention they will earn a double detention and a -5)
Sixth offense breaking the same rule (Referral + 100 sentences) = -6
(O) Outstanding = 0, -1, or -2
(S) Satisfactory = 0, -1, -2, -3, -4, or -5 (increased neg. values over -2 from breaking different rules)
(N) Needs Improvement = -6, -7, -8, -9, -10 &/or earned loss of privilege or detention consequence
(U) Unsatisfactory = -11 or worse &/or earned a double detention or referral
If a student owes sentences and the grading period is over, they must be turned in the last day of the trimester or if senteces were earned that last day of the trimester, they they must be turned in the first day of the new trimester. If not, the student's behavior grade will be lowered at least one letter grade.
