Her beautiful blonde curly hair was flowing in the wind while her beautiful blue dress flowed in the same direction as her hair. The concert she was singing at was sold out. While the show was coming to an end her fans were getting sad. They were chanting, “Encore! Encore!” She sang one more song then said, “Goodnight Norco!” As the stadium cleared there was trash left over but the one thing the fans didn’t forget to take home was their memories of that night. The amazing song writer is Carrie Underwood and this concert is completely from my own imagination. Carrie Underwood has written a lot of songs in her life, and most of them have done well. But the one song I want to focus on is “Blown Away.” This song was turned into a concert.
Carrie has written many songs. But she rarely writes a song and makes a whole concert about it. "Blown Away" is a song that describes Carrie Underwood trying so hard to get her alcoholic dad into a shelter because of a storm. He is asleep drunk and not waking up, so she goes outside to their shelter and locks herself in the cellar. She does this knowing she may wake to find her previously passed out dad gone…taken by the tornado. She wakes up, the sun is shining, there is new green grass, and it looks like nothing happened. The storm has cleared. There’s a brown puppy trying to get to Carrie, so she opens the door and picks up the puppy. There is a path, but it’s not any ordinary path. It’s a yellow brick path that goes up to where her house once sat…its Blown Away.
I took a survey, and asked fifty NIS students how they felt about Carrie Underwood's music. Eighteen percent loved her, 38% liked her, 26 % felt she’s ok, 20% didn't know her. One of Carrie's fans, Kathy Cordoba said, "Some of her songs are really good!” Gracelynn Burgan also said “She's amazing!!!!” All in all, I am blown away by Carrie Underwood's talent.

The year was 2013, a brand new song was playing on the radio and the title was "Roar." The song was played for the first time on 102.7 FM which then lead it to play on a ton of different stations. Katy Perry came out with "Roar" on August 25th of this year and this newbie seems to be a rocket that has hit the moon. She has recently come out with an official music video that came out on August 5th which is by far one of my favorite music videos. I highly recommend that you go and watch it. You will fall in love with the transformation that she encounters. She is also in the process of making a new album called "Prism" coming out in October around the 22nd, which includes "Roar" and many more surprises.
I wondered how the rest of Norco Intermediate School students felt about "Roar," so I surveyed 50 students on campus. About 80% of the students surveyed liked Katy Perry's new song, "Roar." The other 20 percent of the class didn't like the song. One person within the 20 percent, Adrian Bui, really didn't like it because he thought she was copying the "Eye of the Tiger." However, I don't think it was ever her intention to copy that song at all.
Bella Dantuono had a different opinion of the song than Adrian because she actually liked the song. She said she loved the song because it was inspiring to her. She explained that the song boosted her confidence for what was ahead in her life and what to look forward to. Also it made her feel like she could do anything and wasn't afraid of what people were going to say. Those are two of the reasons that I chose Bella, so others could read and feel a little bit of the same way. I hope I took you on a journey through her new music and what's to come. If you would want the chance to pick a new song next month #newbies on instagram.

Summer is a sad time?

Do you like summers? Well there is one song artist who doesn't. Her name is Lana Del Ray and the song is "Summertime Sadness." "Summertime Sadness" was published by Lana Del Ray June 22, 2012. The song is about mourning the death of someone she cared for, and I can see how losing someone during the summer could cast a dark shadow on one's summer. I took a survey of kids' favorite song artists and Lana Del Ray's song "Summertime Sadness" earned the most votes. Overall, she earned six votes out of 16 total. The other artists that students liked included Skrillex with four votes, Journey with two, Luke Bryant with two, and Toby back with two votes.
The NIS students I surveyed included: Brandon Gibbins, Ivan, Shelby Hintgen, Sabrina Tiscarano, Meghan Waterman, and Genesis Jimenez. First, I asked them why they liked Lana Del Ray. Most of them said that her music was "upbeat." Then I asked them what their favorite song by her was and most said "Summertime Sadness" and " Young and Beautiful" (published on April 23, 2013). Sabrina Tiscareno commented, "I like the song 'Summertime Sadness,' because it uses her real voice and its not computerized.
The other two questions were "What is her music like?" and "What made you like her songs?" The answers for that is "hip-hop." Then, for my last question, people said that she has a "very good voice with a lot of expression." In my opinion, even though I don't know what her music is like this article gives me an idea to try and find her music and listen to it, and maybe you should too...after all, you're only gambling with 2 minutes of your time.

top ten worst songs of 2012-2013

Have you ever wondered what the worst songs you've ever heard in whole your life? Now you can! These songs will seem obvious to be on this list! This list will surprise the color out of your body! Some of these songs seem not quite accurate based on their popularity... BUT, they are based on someone’s own opinion. Some of these don’t even deserve a spot in the top ten worst songs. Some of the songs were made by the same artists, so be prepared! Now, we can start with this Top 10 Worst Songs list (the songs are not in order).
Surprisingly, Justin Bieber placed second and fifth place in the top ten worst songs in this list. The songs are titled “Boyfriend” (#2) and “As Long As You Love Me”(#5). Although these songs were a bit popular, one of these songs has an influence in the life of crime. This shows that Justin Bieber may have gone through this kind of path before in his successful life. There are more songs that may explain many weird things, like Nicki Minaj’s, “Stupid ___,” (#1) and Tyga’s, “Rack City (#8).” Although this singer has shown us a popular dance in 2013 that lasted for a few months, there were some people who couldn’t take the fact that no one can understand him. Yep, it is the Korean singer PSY. Even though his most popular song, “Gangnam Style" (#4) was a hit, some people had their own opinions on this popular singer. Someone translated this song and found out that this song was ACTUALLY about meeting a girl in a coffee shop where she relaxes during the day, but is ready to party at night. Even the music video didn’t show any of that! Rihanna’s two songs, “Where Have You Been” (#7) and “Diamonds” (#9) had very confusing lyrics, even if they were translated! The next singer who made the list has made a habit of writing bad love songs, and it is Taylor Swift! She is very popular amongst many girls, but the song is just repeating, “Never, ever, never, ever!” with her song. “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” (#10) irritates many people because the lyrics are poorly written. In addition to that, Carly Rae Jepsen had one of her favorite songs, which is “Call Me Maybe,” (#3) and Flo Rida’s “Whistle” (#6) also explained some love in the lyrics that somehow did not make quite any sense. Flo Rida’s “Whistle” may have been popular, but it was brutally criticized by many music critics.
The list has many students in my school with an agreement on the Top 10 Worst Songs list. Only a few people were baffled about who made the list. One student named Sebastian Albelais had commented, "These songs are overused too much today, like PSY's "Gangnam Style." Many other people asked if this was purely my opinion. I replied to many of them, "No!" Someone, who will remain anonymous generated the list and I asked people if they agreed or not. All in all, many of the students in my school have come to an agreement for this Top Ten Worst Songs list.

radio's top 10

Hey you! Yeah you! The one reading this article! I'm going to tell you about the top ten songs of the week! These songs have been playing on the radio stations 103.5, 104.3, and 102.7 FM for awhile now, and people still love listening to them. I will agree these are good songs, and I like listening to most of them. The top ten songs of the week are:
1. "Blurred Lines" by Robin Thicke
2. "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons
3. "Get Lucky" by Daft Punk
4. "Cups" by Anna Kendrick
5. "Wake Me Up" by Avicii
6. "Just Give Me A Reason" by Fun (feat. Pink)
7. "Roar" by Katy Perry
8. "Summer Sadness" by Lana Del Ray
9. "We Can't Stop" by Miley Cyrus
10. "Royals" by Lorde
Looks like these songs have hit the top ten board for a while now. Radioactive has been on the top ten board for a couple months. I guess that song has been earning lots of money for how good it is. Cups from the movie Pitch Perfect has been on the boards for as long as Radioactive has. Lana Del Ray is starting to get more and more popular with her songs now then she ever has. Katy Perry has come out with a new single named "Roar," that people loved since the day it came out.
I surveyed NIS students about the top songs above the students liked. Alex Sanfillipo, an 8th grade students at NIS, loved the song "Royals" by Lorde and "Roar" by Katy Perry. She thinks both songs are inspiring. She
remarked, "It helps people feel better about what other people say about them." She thinks it helps them be stronger. She likes the song "Royals" by Lorde because she loves the beat to the song, and she also likes the song because it's not loud and it's slow. Shelby Hintgen favors the song "Royals" by Lorde, because of the lyrics, music, and the beat. Hannah Brodie also likes the song "Roar" by Katy Perry because she likes the word "roar" in the song, but she doesn't like "Royals" because she thinks it's annoying. The new song "Wake Me Up" by Avicii is also a real hit amongst teenagers. On my survey there were a lot of votes for "Wake Me Up" by Avicci! I guess people really love that song. Hannah Brodie is a fan of "Wake Me Up" because she loves the rhythm. This topic is important because it explains to you the music that kids would want to listen to, whether you may like it or you may not. That's your opinion. If you want your favorite song to be on the top ten list #toptenmusic on instagram. Have a magical day!
